On the evening of Thursday July 25th 2019, ThatAfrikan Productions premiered their short film — Finch during a live screening event at the Daniels Spectrum in downtown Toronto.
The evening showcased two films; The People of Sand and Finch Short Film, followed by a panel discussion on the topic of the disparity between Africans and Caribbeans in Toronto.
The event was hosted by radio personality Joanne ‘Jemeni’ Gairy, and panelists included the film’s cast and crew, as well as ThatAfrikan Productions’ CEO — Celestina Aleobua, feminist activist and fashion designer —Eniola Hundeyin, award-winning author and speaker — Kamshuka, president of African Music Week — Julz Ossom, and founder of The Diasporic Nigerian— Mary Asekome.
The event also introduced Finch the Web Series, from which Finch the short film was adapted, announcing it would be coming soon.
